Synectics Model Lesson
I enjoyed this model the most, especially the creative designs that resulted from it. Most of the students really got into the lesson. A few had problems with the last part of creating an analogy of their own, but a few did come through with some good ideas. The thinking that was required for this lesson was accomplished. I really felt good after the lesson was over and the teacher who's class I did my lesson in said she was impressed by the way students responded to the different steps in the lesson. I was scheduled to do the lesson earlier but didn't get to do it until the 4th. Hope all of you had as much fun with this one as I did. See you in class Monday.

Problem Centered Inquiry Model Lesson
This time I had a harder time trying to decide what to do. I came up with a lesson connecting gas prices of the summer 2008 with a problem statement which changed the beginning of the lesson. Instead of the Explore the problem I presented the problem to the class, had them use an adapted Inquiry Chart to write problem questions that went with the problem statement and then formulate hypothetical answers. We then completed an activity where they predicted highest and lowest prices of ten items and then matched prices to the correct item. They had to calculate prices of all items into 1 gallon quantities so they could really compare the cost. Then they took what they learned in the lesson and applied it to their questions and answers they had written earlier and shared the different solutions.
I did have to go back the second day to complete the lesson and the filming. Also I had some problems with downloading the movie because I had to use a different kind of disc to record and I am still learning about my movie camera. I did get it done and learned something new in the process so that was good. Hope everyone else had a good experience with this model. I am looking forward to seeing what some of you did. See you on Monday.

Concept Development Model
This model worked out better than I had expected. Students did a good job of coming up with a list of words for the concept of roller coaster. As we worked through the process there was some serious conversations going on that you could tell they were giving some thought to their lists. Several words were ones I ask for a reason and I got back some really good reasons for including them. One group put "pregnant women" and I am thinking they can't ride a roller coaster, and that was the reason the group listed them along with little children.
When ask to group the words students did so and several groups labeled theirs as they went. The hardest part for the students was regrouping although several said they thought some of the words could go in more than one group. I wish we could have spent a little more time on this part of the lesson. As it was the bell was ringing as the best generalization was said. I would use this model to introduce other lessons. I believe this model is one that once you have used it several times with students it could really promote the thinking we are encouraging out students to do.
The movie was easy to put together this time, and Dr. H it is 11 minutes, I am getting better:) See you in class.

Concept Attainment Model Posting
Hey everyone, I hope your lesson went well. We had to change the date for me to film due to the teacher I am working with wanted the lesson on Tues. of this week so I am a little behind on getting started on my movie. The camera we were to use went missing, so we had to use my backup camera which didn't record all of the first class we did the lesson with, and I had to record third period. Due to this we had to send out extra permission slips and I may have to again cut out some of the students that are in my film. I have hopes that all will get them in by Monday because I am finished with the movie all except burning it for Dr. H. On the whole everything went well with both the lesson and the film. I continue to learn new things as I work with technology.
I understand the Concept Attainment Model well now, and feel the concept I worked with was a good one to work with for this model. Students did a good job of listing attributes as we worked through the examples and 2nd period came up with better definitions than the class I used in my film but that was okay because I believe they learn a lot anyway. I was able to work in all the steps but I didn't have time to include step 6 as I had planned in the lesson and added it on at the end as part of the evaluation that would be done the next day. Did anyone else have that problem.
I feel much better now that I have this first film behind me. I already know what I will do my lesson on for the next film I just need to wait and hear Dr. H's instuctions in case I need to add something else to the lesson. Take care and see you in class.

Final Day of Class
This class has been fun and I have learned a lot. I will say I was a little nervous about making a movie, but I enjoyed it the most of all the things we did. Plans are to continue to work on it till I have it down so I could explain it to someone else. The conference was great and I am glad that I got to go. There were a lot of new things that I had not seen before plus the 45 free things that educators can use. I have liked blogging and seeing all the things that all of you have posted. Amber I love your page with all of your great pictures of Heber. Makes me wish I lived there again. Dr. H you have gotten me to extend myself again and I think you for that. Sheree and DaNae I hope your enjoy your classes this fall and maybe I will see you at school again. I may continue to post thoughts from time to time so check back ever once and a while maybe I will post something interesting. Watch out for those curse.

See the finish line.
Almost there, I can see the finish line and I am smiling. Plan to blog yesterday, but I had sick grandchildren who wanted all my attention and of course being the great grandma that I am you can guest what came first. I did get my movie burned to the disk, my research paper printed out and powerpoint finished except for the references which shouldn't take long. All of you are probably finished and laughing at me for being so slow. I will say that I'm not as young as I use to be and am feeling it. LOL Those curves come up pretty fast lately but I am still in there and hope to see you tomorrow at out final meeting for Media class. Thankfully there are no curves between my house and the college, I live next door. So, see you there.

Home Again
My movie is made and I think it is what I have enjoyed the most in all my assignments for both classes, lesson plans almost finished, research paper almost there too, and I am feeling so much better. I can only imagine what it is going to feel like when I can say I am done. Hope everyone had a good time at the conference and got home okay. This has been a crazy last two weeks and I am so looking forward to five oclock Monday because I am going to be on my way to North Carolina to see my two grandsons. I will not miss the paper work and web designing at all. Just want some down time and get torelax and read a good book. Got to get back to work no curves right now. Luck me.

Going down hill
I am going down hill and there is a big curve up ahead and I really don't think I can slow down. But I did win a prize at the conference, a paper shreader, Amber won a electric pencil sharpner, and Dr. H won a sexy blue lamp. Sorry DeNae and Sheree that you didn't win a prize. The conference has been fun and it has been nice getting to spend some time talking. I know if I can just get the rest of my assignments finished I will feel like a different person, that is after I get caught up on all the sleep I have lost lately. Got to get back to work, and by the way I did make the curve even if it was on two wheels.
Technology fun
We are here in Rogers having so much fun, with learning about new technology and getting a chance to visit with each other. Several of us are trying to finish up work and time is running low, but we will get it done. I have met several teachers that I have worked with before and it was great seeing them again. We have visited many of the booths and still have lots of time left to go to other workshops. One that was very helpful to me was one on Powerpoints that I visited this morning. Got several new ideas to use in my powerpoint for web design class. Got to run but will catch you later.

Count Down
It is done!!! I have finished with my WebQuest Website. I didn't know how stress I was until I finished that project. I feel that I can breath again. I just have to complete my reflection. The funny thing was I finally had to go and buy the Dummies book for Dreamweaver CS4. Everyone said Dreamweaver was easy to use, but I have to say there were still some steps left out. I couldn't get it to let me chance colors on the page and the size if my font was not listening to me, but I really didn't care, I just was so happy to have gotten it together. Now, I can work on my other assignments. How many days are left. Not many. It is almost midnight and I have to be up early tomorrow got to go.

Life is crazy.
I agree with you Amber, life is crazy. Life is flashing by too fast and I have too much to do. I hope to get these two research papers out by midnight tonight. I keep thinking I can do this, and then I look at the clock and think yes, life is crazy. I have grandkids over trying to pull me away from the computer and you tell a two and three year old they have to wait. Wait???? What is that? Hope everyone is looking forward to our trip, I know I am. The "Movie" is going to be my last project you know what they say about saving the best till last. I hope to get some pictures at the meeting to include in my movie. I have played with it a little, but I will have to finish it up over the weekend. Well, I have to go so be sure to watch out for those curves.

Half way there ...
Hello everyone, did you think I got lost? I have been so busy with assignments and grandkids I couldn't get on for a few days. I have had another first, I created my first webpage site for an assignment in web design class. There is a lot of thought and knowledge that goes into that for sure. I spent most of my week working on the assignment and I got frustrated a lot but in the end I did get it together and feel I learned a whole lot. This week I am working on a WebQuest and am having fun researching and getting it together. I am still working on how to do my movie, hope all of you are having as much fun as I am. I don't have enough hours in the day. I don't know about you but I sure have seen a lot of sharp curves lately. Need to speed up again, see you in a day or two.

Picture this ...
Glad to see your responses to my first blog. I really think I am going to enjoy this. I thought I would comment on the picture I posted, it is of my grandson taken last summer at the beach. I love looking at him so carefree, full of life and energy. I have this picture on my desk and smile each time I look at it and remember our happy times at the beach. Life truly is good and we need to remember to take time to make memories that last a lifetime. Dr. H, I hope you are enjoying the wilderness and some down time and are making some good memories to share with us on your return. I am taking two classes this summer, so I have to get busy on another assignment for my other class. Take care and have a great day:)

This is my first time to blog and I am over a half century old:) I have heard about it on the news and have considered writing my opinion a time or two just never did. A lot of us are that way, we have strong opinions on things sometimes but for one reason or another never voice them. I am blogging for the first time for a media class that this is required for so I can finish up my masters. So imagine that, when you think life is slowing down, it is just slowing for the curve up ahead and then here we go again....have a nice day and look out for those curves.
